Jan Luis Castellanos, born September 11, 1995 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
After being raised by his grandparents in the Dominican Republic he moved to New Jersey at 8 years old to live with his mother, Sugey Quinones.
While attending school in New Jersey at Secaucus High School, he had tremendous success as an athlete while studying theatre. Growing up artistically, he started appearing in commercials and the New York/Los Angeles film scene including musicals such as 'West Side Story' & 'Jersey boys' all while being a State Champion wrestler in the sate of New Jersey.
Choosing to focus on his studies, during his med-school years at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey. Jan Luis was on his way to becoming a doctor before his love for the theater resurfaced once more. After choosing to study at the 'New Collective' in Los Angeles, CA - an acting studio established by Susan Batson, who has previously worked with (Tom Cruise) and (Nicole Kidman), Jan Luis found himself starring in a Marvel Television Drama "Marvel's Runaways" and "Don't Look Deeper" along side (Don Cheadle) and (Emily Mortimer). He broke out in 2020, appearing as Diego Torres in the critically acclaimed Netflix series "13 Reasons Why" and as Mikey Diaz, in the Ed Burns 1980's dramatic comedy, "Bridge and Tunnel" which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2022.
He made his film debut on Netflix's "Tall Girl 2" directed by (Emily Ting) as a high school crush of the title character and has starred in four feature films since than that have yet to be released. He will appear in "Get Lost" as Ryan, the love interest turned-ex in the modern-day re-imagining of Alice-in-Wonderland and follows Alicia/Alice (Ella Travolta) on a wildly magical trip into the Wonderland that is Budapest directed by (Daniela Amavia). Castellanos will star along side Bella Thorne in "Saint Clare" directed by (Mitzi Perione) where he will portray the role of Truman, a mysterious college student who becomes one of Clare's friends and love interest. Jan Luis has teamed up with Netflix once more to embark on the Journey of the "Uglies" franchise as Croy, a leader of rebellious group starring opposite (Joey King) directed by (McG). He has executive produced several short films including "Influencia" and starred as the leading role of Cesar, a struggling influencer grieving his mother. The film was nominated for Best Outstanding Short Drama at the 2022 Official Latino Film and Arts Festival in Palm Springs, CA where his role as Cesar granted him the award for Best Actor in a Drama. Castellanos has recently wrapped production on "Black Spines", a coming-of-age thriller as an executive producer and the leading role of Cameron, an aspiring photographer seeking the horrific truth about his family's history, directed by (Jordon Foss).
