Pankaj Jha is an accomplished Indian actor, writer, and director hailing from Saharsa, Bihar. He completed his education in Bihar and later moved to Delhi to pursue a career in acting. Jha started his acting journey by joining the National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi, where he trained under the guidance of renowned theatre practitioners. After completing his training, he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in film and television. Jha used to act in street plays in his village in Saharsa, Bihar. He made his debut in Hindi films with Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding in 2001. His filmography includes Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday and Gulaal, Sudhir Mishra's Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Chameli and Mumbai Cutting, Manish Jha's Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women, Anwar and A Very Very Silent Film. He has also starred in two of Ram Gopal Varma's gangster trilogy, Company and D and Shiva. His other noteworthy performances include last year's comic caper Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat, Teen Patti, Lahore, and many others. Apart from mainstream Hindi movies, Jha has been part of two path-breaking regional language films Mithila Makhaan (Maithili) and Deswa (Bhojpuri). In addition to his work in films and television, Jha is also a well-known theater actor. He has acted in several plays and has won accolades for his performances on stage. Jha's recent work includes his portrayal of the character MLA in the popular web series "Panchayat 2." His performance in the series has been highly appreciated by audiences and critics alike. An accomplished painter, he has had six solo painting exhibitions to his credit so far. The actor has an art studio in Pune, Maharashtra, and he often escapes from the humdrum of city life to be in the company of color, canvas and loads of creativity.
